GUCCI. I became involved in the life of this poor dog through a lady in Berkeley, MO who had a pair of parakeets that she was selling on Next Door. Long story short, I saved her birds and found a nice home for them. She kept my number and reached out to me for help. Her niece had taken a dog in that her sister was giving away for free, due to her having no time for Gucci.
The new owner who had just acquired this dog had never had a dog before and obviously needed help.
After asking a friend of mine to help me, we went in person multiple times to try to teach her how to be a dog parent. We offered training sessions and treats, toys, a dog bed, leash, and collar, plus an ID tag. After a few months when I called to check on how things were going, she told me that she had surrendered her to the Humane Society, sadly, because she had no time or patience.
Fortunately the Humane Society let me get her out, after they deemed her unadoptable. She was too broken from being handed off from person to person, never receiving any positivity in her whole life. No one had taken the time to teach her how to be unafraid.
Fortunately a good friend of mine (and her dear husband) in rescue offered to foster this sweet girl, and had a wonderful friend who ended up adopting her.
She is now living her very best life with her human sweet dad and her best friend, who happens to be a chicken. : - )
